Hilden, 30 October 2026 - On 29 October 2026, GEPVOLT guided guests from politics and the city administration through its production at the Hilden site. The focus was the upcoming start of series production in the former Wielpütz hall in the Kalstert district, which GEPVOLT is using in addition to its existing building.
The hall of around 14,000 square metres is located directly opposite the current site. This is where the partially automated production of the battery storage systems is being set up. The corresponding line, which includes a robot and laser technology, is already installed in the hall. Series production is intended to increase throughput significantly.
Guests on the tour included Thomas Jarzombek, Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Ministry for Digital Transformation and Government Modernisation, and Hilden’s mayor Claus Pommer. Karl Assing, Chairman of the Supervisory Board, and advisory board member Alexander Kross also took part.
GEPVOLT’s flagship project is the cooperation with ATU: up to 275 sites are to be equipped with battery-backed fast-charging stations, which GEPVOLT develops, builds and operates. The first station in Konstanz is already connected, and further sites are under construction. The advantage over conventional fast-charging points: the stations do not depend on a particularly powerful power grid, because the battery storage provides the power for the charging process.
Mayor Claus Pommer said he was impressed by the developments of the past months and stressed that production in this important industry is located in Hilden. The city supports the company through its economic development agency. State Secretary Thomas Jarzombek saw GEPVOLT as an example of what German engineering can achieve and highlighted that around half of the value creation of large-scale storage systems takes place in Germany.
Around 50 employees currently work at the Hilden site, and the team is to grow to about 80 in the medium term. The company is looking for colleagues in product development, production and commissioning on construction sites. In the long term, GEPVOLT wants to become the largest battery storage manufacturer in Germany, says Alexander Kross. From politics, the company wishes for reliable framework conditions and less bureaucracy.
Headquartered in Hilden, GEPVOLT develops, produces, finances and operates industrial battery storage systems for industrial companies, energy suppliers, municipalities and operators of solar and wind parks. Through its own development and production, the company pursues a consistently industrial approach and relies on technologically independent solutions made in Germany.
