Hilden, 23 February 2026 - GEPVOLT SE has signed a cooperation agreement with ATU for the nationwide expansion of an integrated fast-charging and battery storage infrastructure.
The project will be implemented in two stages. First, high-performance fast-charging points combined with intelligent battery storage systems will be installed at 20 ATU branches. This will be followed by the contractually agreed rollout to around 275 further sites.
Integrated infrastructure model with battery storage
GEPVOLT assumes full responsibility for the technical design, planning, construction and operation of the facilities. At its core is a standardised infrastructure model that systematically combines fast-charging capacity and grid stability through integrated battery storage.
The storage systems act as an energy buffer and enable high charging capacities without the need for extensive grid reinforcements. Load peaks are smoothed out, grid connection costs are reduced and existing grid capacities are used efficiently.
Made in Germany: development and production in Hilden
The battery storage systems used are developed and produced at the GEPVOLT site in Hilden. The company consistently pursues a Made in Germany strategy with a high degree of vertical integration. Key components, energy management systems and the company’s own control system are all developed in-house.
The proprietary control system intelligently coordinates the grid connection, storage and fast-charging unit. The complete integration of hardware, software and control technology ensures high quality standards as well as long-term system stability.
„With this project, we are putting our approach into practice, delivering large-scale infrastructure projects in a technically standardised and industrially scalable way,“ says Andreas Zafiratos, Chief Technology Officer of GEPVOLT SE. „The combination of in-house development, in-house production and our own control system gives us technological independence and the highest quality Made in Germany.“
Systematic rollout with standardised architecture
The two-stage project model enables structured and economically efficient infrastructure expansion. Instead of individual one-off solutions, a nationwide platform with uniform technical specifications and modular construction is created. Technical repeatability and industrial scaling are the key priorities here.
GEPVOLT brings together project development, engineering, production and technical integration within an integrated structure. The aim is to build a robust, grid-supportive infrastructure with long-term technological stability.
With the increasing electrification of transport, GEPVOLT is addressing the growing demand for high-performance and intelligently integrated charging solutions. The planned up to 275 further sites underline the company’s ability to systematically develop large-scale site portfolios and deliver them to a consistent quality standard.
