Battery storage for grid stability, GEPVOLT

Hilden (ots) - Innovative storage solutions relieve the power grid and create security of supply

The power supply of the future must be not only climate-neutral, but also secure, flexible and economical. Given a sharply rising share of renewable energies, growing electricity demand and increasing grid bottlenecks, one thing becomes clear: without modern storage technology, a stable energy system can no longer be ensured. GEPVOLT SE therefore relies consistently on technically mature battery storage solutions that relieve grids and guarantee a secure supply.

Grid stability as a central challenge of the energy transition

The more wind and solar power is fed into the grid, the more complex the electricity system becomes. This is because generation and consumption must be in balance in the power grid at every second, otherwise voltage fluctuations, power outages or high balancing costs are imminent. In the past, large, centrally controlled power plants performed this task. Today a new solution is required: intelligent, decentralised energy storage.

Large-scale battery storage systems respond to grid signals within milliseconds and effectively balance out load peaks or frequency fluctuations. In doing so, they take on a system-critical role in the energy market, quietly, emission-free and with the highest technical precision.

Technology in focus: GEPVOLT delivers storage with a system

GEPVOLT SE relies exclusively on powerful, scalable storage solutions that are built modularly and can be adapted to the respective grid requirements. The systems are based on proven lithium iron phosphate technology (LiFePO4), which is characterised by high cycle stability, safety and environmental friendliness.

The heart of every project is the intelligent control system: GEPVOLT works together with specialised software partners in order to operate the storage systems in a grid- and market-optimal manner. This makes it possible to tap into several revenue streams at once, from participation in the balancing power market through load management to intraday trading.

Security of supply as a responsibility

Whether power outage, grid overload or short-term additional demand, battery storage offers not only flexibility but also security. GEPVOLT therefore develops storage projects specifically at locations with grid-technical relevance, for example near substations, industrial areas or regions with a strong generation and consumption gradient.

In these sensitive grid areas, a storage system can make a decisive contribution to security of supply, in particular also for critical infrastructure such as hospitals, water supply or data centres.

Municipalities and grid operators as project partners

GEPVOLT SE plans all storage projects in close coordination with distribution grid operators, municipalities and planning authorities.

The aim is not only to implement projects technically, but to integrate them into regional energy planning. As a result, local stakeholders also benefit, for example through lease income, trade taxes or the safeguarding of their own power infrastructure.

At the same time, every project creates new opportunities to incorporate further forms of energy, for example through coupling with PV or wind installations, and thus promotes a holistic regional energy transition.

Future-proof technology, economically viable

In addition to technical quality, GEPVOLT places particular emphasis on economic viability: all storage projects are based on robust business models with a long-term perspective.

Through intelligent electricity trading management and participation in several markets, fluctuations can be balanced out and stable revenues achieved, a clear advantage over purely subsidy-dependent models.
